WELTON WATERS - a lovely walk of under 4 miles (route map at bottom of page)
Distance 3.86 miles Approx 1 hour 16 mins walking time.
Starting point in Melton Industrial Estate Access from A63 at the North Ferriby Junction.
Plenty of roadside parking at Gibson Lane below the railway line or in the industrial estate.
Start at Heritage Garden Centre (they have a lovely café called Seasons).
Cross railway at level crossing, continue for approx. 50 metres to kissing Gate on right, just before Transwaste entrance.
Follow footpath between Transwaste and Omya site, until you reach the wood.
Enter wood and go left following track.
Continue on track until you reach a narrow footbridge.
Go over footbridge, continue on keeping Welton Waters Lake to your right until you reach the river bank.
Turn right on River bank and continue on towards Brough, between River and Welton Waters.
When you get to the end of Welton Waters Lake, turn right and descend from river bank into Common Lane, which starts as a rough track and then becomes a paved road.
Continue on paved road for a short distance, until road turns sharp left, at this point turn right onto track and head back towards the industrial estate.
At end of first field turn sharp left and follow track, to railway line. Cross railway at this point.
Pay close attention that there are no trains approaching before walking across the line.
Continue on until you reach the A63.
Turn right onto footpath which runs alongside the main road past the filling station.
At the overhead footbridge, turn right into Gibson Lane, and continue on back to your starting point.
